A Long Road revolves around two sisters, Arah and Lule, who navigate their contrasting life choices and unresolved emotions over the course of one late night together. The sisters wrestle with the complexity of their family dynamics, personal identity, and the struggle to define one’s own happiness.

Yaz is an award winning Turkish-German writer-director-actor who grew up on stages in Europe singing, dancing and acting. She received a diploma in the dramatic arts, starred in two TV series Europe-wide and eventually moved to Los Angeles to pursue independent filmmaking. Yaz transitioned into writing-directing in 2016 with her first short film ‘Walt & Ich’, which she received praise for as a “promising upcoming female director” at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Her second short-film ‘Man In Hoodie’, produced by Collins Ave Productions won the Audience Award at the New York City International Film Festival in 2020. Yaz’ first feature, ‘My Home Unknown,’ is produced by WallyBird Productions and Threshold Entertainment and premiered at Dances With Films ’23 at the legendary Chinese Theater. It continued on a successful festival run with over 10 nominations and was honored with the Panavision Award nomination for Outstanding Feature as well as won Best Debut American Feature at FeFF. ‘My Home Unknown’ is currently distributed by Gravitas Ventures and can be streamed on all major platforms. Besides screenplays, Yaz’ writes in various additional formats such as poetry, children’s and chapter books. ‘A Long Road’ is her first One Act stage play, that she is thrilled to present at SPF 16.

Cathleen started her career at City New Bureau in Chicago. Her TV credits include: The Young & Restless, MacGyver and Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman. She wrote over a dozen television movies including Hallmark Hall of Fame’s, “A Place for Annie” with Sissy Spacek, which won The HUMANITAS Prize. Her children’s book, The Pumpkin War, from Penguin Random House, won The Christopher Award. 10 years ago she started Play LA with Shem Bitterman, which has gone on to develop over 50 plays from Los Angeles writers.
