COLOR BLIND is a fictitious reimagining of the architecture jury that was tasked with selecting an architect to design the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC in 2009. The jury chose six finalists, each presented a design for the site on the Washington DC Mall.

Oren Safdie’s PRIVATE JOKES, PUBLIC PLACES was an off-Broadway/London hit. (The Wall Street Journal named it as one of the top ten new plays of the decade.) His next play, THE LAST WORD starred Emmy Award Winners, Ed Asner and Daniel J. Travanti. Other New York productions include GRATITUDE, UNSEAMLY, WEST BANK, UK, JEWS & JESUS, FALSE SOLUTION, THE BILBAO EFFECT and LA COMPAGNIE, which he developed into a 1⁄2-hour pilot for CBS. (5 of his productions were NY Times Critic’s Pick.) SURVIVAL OF THE UNFIT ran last year at Great Barrington Public Theatre where it was nominated for 2 Berkies. Oren scripted the films YOU CAN THANK ME LATER starring Ellen Burstyn; BITTERSWEET; THE MAN WHO SAVED THE INTERNET WITH A SUNFLOWER (Best In Show at IndieFest), and his latest film, LUNCH HOUR, starring Alan Cumming, Thomas Middleditch and Krysta Rodriguez, which is in post-production. Oren teaches Playwriting at Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Carlos has appeared in Scintilla, The Spanish Prayer Book, and Nowhere on the Border at The Road Theatre. Recent television credits include Barry, The Shrink Next Door, The Good Doctor, Suits, Mighty Med, and The Garcias. As a writer, his plays Becoming Cuban, Havana Bourgeois, Exiles, Nowhere on The Border, and Cuba Libre have been produced in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Portland. He also wrote a novel, Eliza and the Alchemist—available on Amazon. It’s good. Buy it.
