HypergaMater
Alanna Aberdeen married for money, not love. Now she teaches other women to do the same. But when skeptic Robin Rigby joins her program, both women grow disillusioned with the lives (and men) they’ve chosen, and their carefully built worlds begin to crumble. Literally.
Marjorie Muller writes body plays and when she’s not writing body plays, she’s writing romance novels, which are kind of like body plays but sexier. Though Chicago-based, Marjorie’s work has appeared across the US at the Road Theatre, The Tank, Urbanite Theatre, and Wild Imaginings, among others. Her work seeks to explore how the messy, perfect body interacts with the world. And how that world attacks it, feeds on it, adores it. How do humans claim autonomy on their body when the body is inherently political? Marjorie’s plays littlespace, or the daddy play, The Sporting Life, and HypergaMater have all been semifinalists for The O’Neill. In 2024, she received an Honorable Mention for the prestigious Relentless Award. Her work has been recognized twice as a finalist for the Henley Rose playwriting competition and most recently has been accepted to The Last Frontier conference for 2025. She is an alum of the acting program at The Theatre School at DePaul, Jackalope Theatre’s Playwrights Lab, New Coordinates’ Writers Room, The Road Theatre’s Under Construction 3, and a former playwriting resident at Three Brothers Theatre.
