A gruff, old summoner in southern Ohio agrees to bind a protective spirit to a stone for one week at the request of a high school graduate who is trying to escape his abusive father.

Douglas Hill has a long history with new play development. His short plays, Heart in the Ground, Roulette, No Such Thing, and Cain Town have received multiple productions across North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. He has developed and directed oral history theatre projects with the Bainbridge Performing Arts, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and The Speeding Theatre. His work has also been anthologized by Dramatic Publishing, Smith and Kraus, Heinemann, and Black Box Press. He has worked as a script reader/respondent for Arizona Theatre Company and their National Hispanic Playwriting Contest, the Neil Simon Festival New Play Contest, Kennedy Center ACTF, the Morton R. Sarett National Playwriting Competition, the Panowski Playwriting Competition, and the Eileen Heckart Senior Drama Competition. He currently teaches in the Theatre Department at UNLV and is the Associate Producer and a Resident Director of the Simonfest Theatre Company.

Summer Playwrights Festival and is very happy to be back. Working with the actors to help the playwright achieve his or her goal is the drug that brings him back each year. Currently, he is working with Erik Gernand to turn Erik’s past SPF production, The Beautiful Dark, into a feature film. When not directing Taylor is best known as an actor currently working on Pen15 and the Disney film Rise.
