Two competing restaurateur immigrant families grapple with their rapidly changing world as the triple threats of gentrification, haute cuisine and high school graduation loom near.

Nikhil Mahapatra is a south-by-southeast-asian multi-disciplinary writer in Brooklyn. Their written work draws on queerness and race sometimes, power and love often, but most of all encircles the place where grief and joy meet together, which, as one audience member once said, had “mixed results, but I guess I liked it”. Things- Lit Council at the Tank 2018-2019, Gingold Theatre Speaker’s Corner 2018-2019, Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellow 2019-2020, SPACE at Ryder Farm Creative Resident 2021, finalist for the National Playwrights Conference at the O’Neill, finalist for Signature Theatre’s launchpad Residency and other stuff. Latest theatrical works include SWEETFISH!, American Hunger, CARNAL, Lost in the Fire, and Bali Babes. Other media includes the short film SPF (NYITFF 2019), and select short stories and poems published in America and Singapore.

Broadway: YOU NEVER CAN TELL, Circle in the Square, with Uta Hagan. Road Theatre: AKTIAG, MELISSA ARCTIC and in Numerous Playreadings for The WORD, UNDER CONSTRUCTION and SPF. Her Play, THE LIFE AND TIMES OF AGGIE MCGEE was in SPF 7. LA Theatre: WINGS at The Sierra Madre Playhouse, CAFE SOCIETY at The Odyssey, DEAD MAN’S CELLPHONE at ITC, STATIONS at the Zephyr. Regional Theatre: OPERA COMIQUE at The Kennedy Center, BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS at St. Louis Rep, TWELFTH NIGHT at Alaska Rep. Film/TV: She is recurring as Beth on the new QUANTUM LEAP. Favorite roles: NCIS, CSI, STAR TREK, SEINFELD, MURPHY BROWN, NIGHT COURT,HOTHOUSE, WINGS, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and over 50 TV guest starring roles. As well as several Independant films. She has directed own films through her company, ZenGleam Filmz. BFA Otterbein College. Trained with JOSE QUINTERO, LESLEY KAHN, LAURA GARDNER. She is represented by Tal Drori at KEY TALENT.
