SPF 14: Year One
Anna struggles to keep her son from getting involved with political extremists who threaten their very way of life. When her brother Max arrives unexpectedly from out of town, Anna’s thrown into even greater turmoil when the true reason for his visit is uncovered and she’s forced to choose between family and country.
Erik Gernand’s plays have been in production and/or development at theaters including Premiere Stages (Union, NJ), Redtwist, American Theater Company, and Chicago Dramatists (all Chicago), Actors Theatre of Louisville, as well as The Barrow Group (NYC). As a filmmaker, his award-winning short films have screened at more than 100 film festivals around the world including SXSW, Chicago International Film Festival, and Cinequest, as well as been broadcast on IFC, PBS, and the Logo Channel. Erik is an Associate Professor of Instruction in Radio-TV-Film at Northwestern University.
This is Taylor’s 10th year directing for the festival and second time working with Erik Gernand. It is the experience of working closely with the playwrights and the talented group of actors that keeps him returning each year. Taylor is a working theatre director and is an award winning short filmmaker having directed Two Heterosexual Men… and Last Train. He is a bike advocate and is currently producing and co-hosting a radio show and Pod cast Bike Talk @Biketalk.org. But Taylor is most know as an actor having recently been a regular on Pen 15 and Perry Mason.
