Taylor’s Backpack

This is Elin’s second time participating in the Road’s Summer Playwrights Festival. The last being in 2012, when “The Bells of West 87th” had a reading before its long run at the Greenway Arts Center. An active member of EST-LA, she enjoys being a multi-hyphenate as a writer, actor, lyricist and director. Currently, her full length play Ordinary Girls is in development for a production in the UK. Her plays and musicals have been produced all over the world, including by the Samuel French OOB Festival, City Theatre Miami, the York Theatre, the Collective New York, Schreiber Shorts in NYC. Her plays have been published in several anthologies. Television writing and show running credits include: “Mad About You,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Dream On,” “Pinky and the Brain,” “Rugrats,”“The Wild Thornberries,” “Life’s Work,” “The Jackie Thomas Show” and John Leguizamo’s “House of Buggin.” In her spare time, she’s a Pilates trainer.
Carolyn studied directing with Travis Preston at Playwrights Horizons in NYC. She has been teaching and directing young adults for over 25 years on the faculty at The Young Actor’s Studio in NOHO, and as a guest teacher at Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences for over a decade.
She directed for the yearly festival “A Light in Dark Places” at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood. Carolyn has performed as an actor at The Road Theatre, Boston Court, Laguna Playhouse, Odyssey Theatre, Son of Semele, Atwater Village Theatre, Classical Theatre lab, EST LA, Celebration Theatre, Theatre NEO and Moving Arts. On television, Carolyn played Mrs. Ito, Peggy York, in American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson on FX. She can also be seen on 9-1-1, This is Us, Colin in Black & White, For All Mankind, Shameless, Shameless Hall of Shame, Ratched, How to Get Away with Murder and Masters of Sex. In 2025, Carolyn co-produced The Seagull at The Odyssey Theater starring James Tupper and Sasha Alexander and played the role of Polina.
