The Belly of The Beast
Living on the Oregon Coast, a family anticipates the possibility of a tsunami sweeping away their existence. This force of nature combined with surfing, grief, and family tensions, creates a story of human transformation. Facing disaster, sometimes the only thing one can do is ride the wave and hang on.
Only three blocks from the roaring surf of the Pacific Ocean, Ken Henry is a retired Presbyterian pastor who resides in the small coastal town of Gearhart, Oregon. Think Astoria or Cannon Beach. Back in 2018 while working as a pastor in Charlottesville, VA, he became involved with a local playwriting group at Live Arts Community Theater. Three of his one-act plays have been produced and put on stage. Ken loves the collaborative process of actors, directors, writers, and audiences coming together to laugh, cry, and glean from life’s challenges. Writing plays has become his passion. Ken and his wife, Heather, have a home which sits in a tsunami zone. Geologic experts frequently remind them that it is not a matter of if . . . but when.
