Directing- He was a member of 2018 Dirctors Lab West  and served as Artistic Director for Theatre Unleashed. Producing-The Spidey ProjectA Very Die Hard Christmas– won BEST COMEDY at Hollywood Fringe/nominated for BEST ENSEMBLE.

Playwriting- Met Again (writer) was runner-up for the Fringe Award for BEST PLAY, FRINGE FIRST, and won an ENCORE PRODUCERS AWARD.

Film/TV Directing and Screenwriting:  Has directed or produced over 70 film, television, online content, web series, and reality television projects, and is on the development team for Hold for Plane Pictures, including Tubi’s “Prepare to Die,” starring Michael Madsen and Lorenzo Lamas.

Post Production: Discovery Channel, Original Productions, the Emmy Award-Winning Series The Deadliest Catch, Berring Sea Gold, Ax Men, Storage Wars, and Hell’s Dungeon.

Training: TV/Film production at The University of Iowa and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell College with a degree in writing. Upright Citizens Brigade, Riverside Shakespeare, Elizabeth Mestnick Acting Studio.

Screenwriting: Jacob has recently been awarded with the Best Screenwriting Award for his Film, Almost Lost, from the 100-Hour Film Race Festival. Currently, Jacob D. Smith is a represented Screenwriter/ Director with Emmy Award Winner Darla Marasco of Marasco Management. Jacob is currently writing and producing a TV pilot for the international hit book, The Disappearance of the Universe. Most recent script sales include Little Lion,  Commerce to Gem Media, and Shocktopus with WashAshore Productions, and includes coming features Prepare to Die (Tubi) and Slinky, directed by Amy Redford.
