A storm approaches. An isolated woman living in a home perched on the side of a mountain is at risk of drowning in a river of mud. But her husband is up there somewhere. When a mysterious man arrives with claims to have knowledge of his whereabouts, she faces a choice, go up there to save him, or flee to safety.

Shem Bitterman – Playwright:


Shem is a playwright and screenwriter, author of many plays including; The Job (winner, Ted Schmitt Drama Critics Circle Award), Iowa Boys (winner, FDG/CBS Award), Beijing Legends (winner, Fund For New American Plays), The Ramp (winner, California Playwrights Competition), The Circle. Open House, Ten Below (winner, National Play Award), Sensitive Skin, A Death in Colombia, The Stone Witch, and the Iraq war trilogy, Harm’s Way (winner, Pen Award), Influence and man.gov. Films include; Whitney (Image Award, nominee), Betty and Coretta (HUMANITAS Award, nominee), Off the Lip, Full Count and The Job, which he also directed. 

Ryan McRee – Director:

Ryan McRee is a local director and dramaturg who has worked at various L.A. theatres including the Road, Rogue Machine, The Odyssey, and Antaeus. Recent directing credits include Royalton & 5th (Skylight Theatre Fresh Brews Project), Gilberto (New Opera Works), and The Woman Is Perfected at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Recent dramaturgy credits include The Little Foxes and The Caucasian Chalk Circle at Antaeus. Please return to the Road this September, where he will be directing a reading of Ruth Fowler’s newest play, Chickenheads. Ryan holds a dual B.A. degree in Theatre and Narrative Studies from USC.
